If you follow my “waka” quite often, you may have realized that I have an affinity for the African continent. Greater than that is my affinity for the beach though not as evident. I love going to the beach. I like the form of calmness and serenity that comes with the roaring waves and the richness of the color blue of the deep blue sea (did I mention my undying love for blue).

A nice beach time is something I look forward to whenever I hit the road and in no particular order, here are 5 of my best beaches in Africa so far:

Camps Bay, Cape Town, South Africa

Cape Town in my opinion is probably one of the top five most beautiful cities in the world. In addition to all the other elements that make up for its beauty are the beaches which are worth visiting. I was on a bus tour from table mountain when we drove past Camps Bay.  It was really beautiful and I wish I had enough time to relax there.

Ouidah Plage, Ouidah, Benin Republic

Jumping for joy like it's the new year already #beninrepublic

I love the serenity at this beach. It’s very similar to Badagry and that only makes sense since they are on the same path.

Badagry Beach, Lagos, Nigeria

Badagry

I had given up on most beaches in Lagos because let’s face it, quite a number are a hot mess. My view changed after I visited Badagry beach in May,2016. Though not any cleaner than any of the popular beaches in Lagos, I still like the fact that it was less crowded than them.

Anse Source d’Argent, La Digue, Seychelles

This beach has been rated as one of the best in the world and to be honest, I would agree. It is very picturesque with clear blue water and adorned with beautiful rock formations by its bank. It took me a while to take in the beauty of this beach. It’s a good spot to swim and snorkel due to its low tide.

Grand Bassam Plage, Grand Bassam, Cote d’Ivoire

Sisters on the beach. The beach at Grand Bassam was super clean 😍

I didn’t even know of Grand Bassam until last year March when there was a terrorist attack there. Despite this fact, I still wanted to visit this place. Though we (my sister and I) didn’t have enough time to wander around the historic town, we spent our short time at the beach. This beach was super clean!!! And I loved that about it.

What beach(es) in Africa have you been to? What do you like about them?

I totally loved Camps bay when I visited Capetown and I think it’s one of the best beaches I have been to… It’s also super clean and the water is clear…In Nigeria I love Eleko beach, I think it’s really nice and the water is blue and clean too. I particularly love the Seychelles beach, it’s officially now on my bucket list.

I wish I had more time in Cape Town to explore Camps Bay and the city in general. I haven’t been to Eleko beach but I’ll try to go one of these days. Anse Source d’Argent is totally worth visiting I must say. It’s really Beautiful!
