I didn’t know what to expect when I decided to visit Istanbul. Being a history junkie, I knew I would drool seeing all the ancient sites and ruins the city is famous for and that was about it. No other expectation! In fact, I was afraid. Yes I get frightened that a place may not accept me as much as I’m willing to accept her and that gives me some chills.
Fortunately for me, I fell in love. Asides from drooling at ancient sites and ruins as earlier expressed, I found myself holding on tight to this city more than I expected. Two continents, Four connecting body of water, Secular Islamic people, Tons of cafes and restaurants, Turkish delight, Trams, Boat rides, bazaars, Istanbul to me can be described as eclectic and what’s not to love about that.
I see myself coming here often in the future. I’ve signed up for the frequent flyer programme for Turkish airlines which flies directly to Istanbul from Lagos so I can enjoy stopovers (to accumulate miles) and free rides sometime in the future. I also intend to explore more of Turkey outside of Istanbul as the country has a lot to offer.
But for now, let me introduce Istanbul to you as seen from my iphone and DSLR:
This is my introduction of Istanbul in a nutshell. I have a whole lot of photos I didn’t post and I intend to share some of them at a later date.
Apologies for not posting so much last month. I was on the road and it is difficult for me to get super creative and while I’m busy getting familiar with a place and taking it all in. I guess I still have a lot to learn.
